Personally, I think as long as you're responsible with your finances in general, there's really no need to worry too much about the little things. Especially the little things that make our lives better. When you limit yourself to one income source, you're essentially risking everything. This is a newer concept for me, but I'm starting to earn money outside of my day job. And, it's really liberating. Right now, it's certainly not enough to support me, but it's more than enough to buy a couple lattes and some books! Seriously, check out your library system because my local library can get books from about 100 other PA libraries. I use the library website as my personal Barnes and Noble, and search for books and put them on reserve. They get delivered right to my local library. I never buy books anymore!
