Essential Summer Skin Care Tips

summer season

Winter is long gone, and everyone is enjoying the warm sunshine and longer days.  Most of us are outdoors more, and active in summer activities at the park, the beach, or our own favorite getaway spot.

Even your friendly gym is a bit warmer and humid with all those sweaty bodies, in addition to your own.  All of that means your skin is going to get a lot more abuse, and summer skin care calls for a different routine than your norm.

Summer Skin Care Tips

Lotion – Or Not?

Of course, the answer is yes, use lotion.  But with the summer sun comes an increase in the sun’s potentially skin-damaging rays.  So use a lotion, and cosmetics, with an SPF rating appropriate for the amount of time you’ll be exposed.

But . . . watch the oils.  Many lotions have various oils as part of their ingredients that’s perfect for dry, cold winter air.  But in the summer you’re likely to be sweating more, and as you do your skin will also be producing more natural oils.  So adjust the lotions you use seasonally.

Skin Cleansing

With the increase and sweat and oils, you’ll want to up your cleansing game.  And that’s especially true if you’re outside more and exposed to the dust and dirt in the air.

If you already have skin issues, such as acne, summertime will often aggravate them.  If it becomes particularly troublesome, consult your dermatologist.  There are some good treatments, such as Tetralysal capsules, that can help.

First Aid Essentials

As you make your list of things to bring on your outdoor adventures, don’t forget to include a first aid kit, preferably one that is designed for summer.  If you don’t want to carry a full kit, at least bring the essentials, which include –

  • Insect repellent
  • Bandaids
  • Neosporin (or generic equivalent)

After you’ve taken care of the skin protection essentials, of course you’ll want to get those legs ready for your favorite bathing suit.  Use quality razors, or  good depilatory like this.

With a little preparation, you’ll get through the summer unscathed.  Your skin will thank you for it!
