Toning Up After Losing Weight – What Are Your Options?

It’s no secret that losing a large amount of weight is a pretty amazing achievement. It takes time, effort and dedication to shed the pounds, especially if you are breaking free from a lifetime of bad habits. Finally getting down to your goal weight can feel incredible, and knowing that you will be able to live a healthier and more prosperous life, as a result, is the cherry on top of the cake (not that we’re thinking about cake!). Losing weight is about so much more than sheer aesthetics, as it can be a positive lifestyle change that can quite literally add years onto your life.

However, most of us would be lying if we said we didn’t enjoy seeing the change in our bodies as we shed the pounds. Many people are happy whatever their weight, but if you feel more confident a few kilograms lighter, you’re well within your rights to flaunt that! But what do you do if you’ve lost lots of weight, but you’re still not totally confident with your body? In many cases there can still be a lot of work to do before you achieve the physique you’ve always dreamed of, so here are some processes you might want to consider.

Blasting off the last of the fat

Even if you’ve completely transformed your lifestyle and have learned to love exercise, something many of us experience at some point is a weight-loss plateau. Sometimes this can be shifted by drastically shaking up your diet or your exercise regime, but for some of us, this simply isn’t possible. Maybe you struggle as it is to fit exercise and healthy eating into your daily routine, especially if you are very dedicated to your job or if you have children. For this reason, a little helping hand, such as something like CoolSculpting, may not necessarily go amiss.

Removal of excess skin

A problem that is more common than you may think when it comes to weight loss is excess skin. It’s something many people have to live with after losing a large amount of weight, especially if the weight loss happened quite rapidly. Additionally, it can be pretty disheartening to lose all that weight and then feel as though you still have to hide away in baggy clothing. However, you don’t have to live with excess skin – visit a trusted doctor to see what your options are.

Toning up

If you’re now thin but still feel like your skin could do to be a bit tighter, embark on a toning program to put the finishing touches on your new look. Cardio will only get you so far here – it’s mainly all about lifting weights, as that is what will burn fat and tighten up any problem areas. Start with some basic floor work and incorporate barbells or dumbbells into your routine at a pace you feel comfortable with. Even adding weights to basic aerobic moves can help you to tone up and add muscle definition.
