Let’s face it – most job offers pop up without warning. You get a call from another company, recruiter, or VP at your current company because “There is a new position and you would be PERFECT!” or “Bob is moving out-of-state and we want YOU onboard for the Director role.”
Are you prepared to interview and to show you are qualified for the new opportunity?
1. Start a PROPS folder. An email folder where management, a peer, or client recognizes you for excellent work. This could be a reference down the line or something to print out and show the interviewer.
2. Create a BRAG book. You don’t need fancy awards or titles to create a brag book. Simply make tabs for each area you would like to show off! That could be “sales growth”, “committees”, “leadership roles” and/or “testimonials” to combine into your own brag book. Talk about separating yourself! This is much more impressive than a resume alone.
3. Print and Bind. So many times we complete big projects without documenting, organizing, or saving our work. Print off details of a project and what you have contributed start to finish then bind. What an easy way to showcase your work in a unique presentation to a prospective interviewer.
