When Your Boyfriend is Your Work

For 2 weeks I’ve been on complete work overload. Overworked, exhausted, and swimming upstream. I’m a wreck. My work life has affected my personal life. My apartment is a mess, I have no groceries, and I think I’ve got 2 more days before I have to go buy some new maxi dresses and rompers.

Most hit I feel like are my relationships with my friends and family. I feel a bit cut off from the world.  My g-chat ability lacking, my texts few and far between, phone calls brief and personal interaction practically unheard of.

Dating is completely out of the question.

During this time, I’ve been asked on a few dates (thanks online dating cause I sure haven’t had time elsewhere,) but I’ve just had to say, “Sorry, can you take a raincheck for a few weeks?” Doesn’t really go over well…

All of this complete wreck of a life  has really made me think-thank goodness I don’t have a significant other!

In past stress storms, I have had a significant other. Our time together was diminished.  Bringing stress home was common and taking stress out on my other was too. I turned into a baby fire-breathing dragon. I also felt that if I did get to spend my time with my BF, then I would be missing time with my BFF or my family, therefore feeling more stressed about the lack in those relationships. What a vicious cycle….

So what I’m asking today is- how do you get through it? How do you save your relationships when you’re having a crazy affair with work stress?

And this one, I really don’t have an answer. Truthfully, I don’t even have a very good opinion, cause I’ve failed so miserably at this in the past. But I don’t think I’m the only one who has failed miserably either.

So I’d love to hear what you do. Get in the driver seat ladies and tell me how this works. Do you take your stress out elsewhere? Firing range? Kickboxing? Do you put your relationship on hold? Do you just have the most perfect partner that gets it an totally understands? I’m intrigued.

Let’s talk.

Happy Thursday y’all!
