Travel-Sustaining Jobs For Those Who Love Traveling

If you’re like most travelers, you spend your every waking hour filled with wanderlust, dreaming about travelling to different places or relocating all over the world. In this article, we will list some great jobs that allow you to travel across the globe while earning yourself some sweet cash.

Freelance work.

Being freelance is fairly competitive, especially if you want a high salary that lets you travel or be abroad. However, due to technological advances, companies are far more open to allowing writers, developers, and photographers to work from almost anywhere in the world, as long as they have remote access to a workstation and a stable internet connection.

You can virtually work from everywhere, freedom to work whenever, day or night. This job, however, requires a lot of self-disciple and can be a tad lonely. You are responsible for your own success or failure.

English teacher.

English is one of the world’s most spoken language and you can find that most countries you visit will have English speakers – fluent or otherwise. There is always a big demand for people who can teach it. Most of these jobs need a TEFL (Teaching Language as Foreign Language) certification but after acquiring this, the jobs are very easy to find. The most popular destinations for prospective teachers include South Korea, Japan, and Spain.

The job is very rewarding and you get to immerse yourself in the local culture. There are also (either free or discounted) accommodations, plus an opportunity to learn a new language. Take note that you may have to commit to a contract.

Bartender.

What location in the world doesn’t have a bar, right? A highly popular choice for many, especially young travelers, as working in a bar doesn’t necessitate previous work experience or solid qualifications. Many either bartend while travelling or do a block of bar work at home to gain enough cash to travel abroad for the rest of the year.

There is increased sociability within the job, and you’re likely to make new friends and experience the local nightlife. However, you need to get used to the  long night hours.

Nanny / Au Pair.

This job requires a passion for working with children. You naturally need a lot of patience, but you’ll be rewarded with a large cultural experience while living with foreign employees or families. You’ll have lots of time to tour the local area and you get free food and accommodation. If you’re okay with living with strangers, then this is a good deal.

Now the question is, where are you travelling next?

You now have some ideas about the jobs you can do when travelling, so the next obvious thing to do is find that next location, plan your travel, and prepare the necessary skills you need to take on the jobs.

Planning a winter getaway? For some early-year snow fun, try winter sports activities in Japan (Sapporo, Osaka, etc.) or Val Thorens in Europe where the highest ski area is located.

And don’t forget  an awesome winter sports add-on when purchasing your travel insurance  is to remove the exclusion of winter sports participation in your insurance. It also covers you if your winter sports equipment is stolen, lost or damaged, plus other benefits.

For February sun, try out New Orleans and visit the city’s most famous carnival, Mardi Gras, which dominates the month. New Zealand is also a perfect place (yet less obvious) for travelers in search of sunshine.
