Why Moms Make The Best Entrepreneurs

If you are a mom or are considering become one, you might have bought into a point-of-view that your career aspirations must take a back seat, that you’ll need to cut back hours or pay or stop working altogether.

What if the opposite was actually true?

Did you know that many of the qualities which make someone a successful entrepreneur are found, quite naturally in a mom?

Upon onset of children, multi-tasking is made normal and utilizing downtime like the drive to school, the shower, or waiting in the checkout line becomes a necessity.

All moms quickly learn how to prioritize, pull all- nighters and perform whether you feel up to task or not. Every moment counts when spending it away from the kids so you won’t catch a mom wasting time.

You’ll be accustomed to loss-of-sleep, sickness and all the guts and glory of motherhood. You’ll appreciate the break from the kid-zone and to have a creative outlet for your ideas.

You know that novel you’ve been tossing around, that invention you’ve been designing and the half a dozen businesses you’ve started creating (all in your head)? Entrepreneurship is how you get that brilliance out into the world.

Kid Tested?  Yes.

Ever heard of “kid tested and mother approved?” Talk about built in product testing …Simply by trial and error, your kid’s feedback, and being flat out pragmatic, you will know the best snacks, the worst stain removers, which iPad apps can hold a 4-year old’s attention and which are a waste of $2.99. Chances are by the time you’ve got an idea hatching in your brain, it is one worth exploring.

Love them or hate them, moms are thrown into any number of social engagements for the sake of their children. From the playground to the boardroom to a Facebook wall, women are always sharing everything from recipes, makeup tips, blogs and funny memes .  You know when you find something you love how you want to tell everyone?  Well it’s the same way to sell a product, fill seats in an event, get a million hits to your blog. What you do naturally, what you do best, is talking it up. Whether you become a social-media influencer, an event promoter, or are involved in direct sales, it’s time to put these skills to work.

Expect the unexpected as an entrepreneur. But moms are already accustomed to living in the moment and putting out fires, literal and figurative.  If you want someone who can do damage control, come up with an emergency plan and think on her feet, a mom is your gal.

Passion, Innovation, and Motivation

Chances are whatever your given endeavor, you will put your heart and soul into it. Like all creative geniuses, the mom is fueled by passion. Innovative by nature, motivated by circumstance, you will have an unending supply of generative, inspiring ideas ripe for instituting and the stamina to see them through.
