You Can Travel In Luxe Style For Less in 2016

Everyone loves something for nothing, right? We all like something extra that we haven’t had to pay for. It’s the little things in life that keep us happy, and little perks are always a nice treat. That’s why, when you’re travelling, a free upgrade is an ultimate bonus! The excitement of getting to fly with the elite in plush surroundings is always a thrill, especially when you haven’t had to pay for it. Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch!

While upgrades are not as common as they used to be – airlines frequently overbook flights to ensure all seats will be occupied. You can find cheaper business class flights than ever before, which can be an affordable alternative to first class.  The air travel market is massive as more people go abroad. There are things you can do to increase your chances of bagging that better spot. If you’re clever and follow these smart hacks, you could find yourself in the lap of luxury!

Make sure you dress the part. If you look sharp or business like, you’re more likely to be stepped up to sumptuous surroundings. Sipping on champagne, you could be floating on cloud nine with an upgrade, so don’t go scruffy. Sure, comfort is important, but you can always carry a change of clothes in your hand luggage. This is a splendid idea for long haul trips so you don’t get too wrinkled.

If you’re a frequent flyer, then it could pay to be loyal to one airline if you can. When they’re looking to find people to upgrade on any flight, loyal customers will usually take priority. Your flight history will be linked up to your current travel details. If you’ve used them a lot, you’re more likely to take priority if a better seat becomes available. Sign up for mailing lists so you can get news of the best deals and offers.

When you embark on your flight, check your seat carefully. If your table, belt or seat have any defects, you could be eligible for that all important upgrade. Don’t be a vandal and start damaging things, if you get caught, you’ll be put off the plane and could even be prosecuted. Don’t be dishonest to try and get something for free; it’s equivalent or the same as stealing.

Like everything in life, timing is everything. If you want to be moved out of cattle class, often it’s a case of the early bird catches the worm. Sometimes, it pays to be early. If flight seating plans have to be changed owing to logistical issues, then the operator will usually know this at least a few hours in advance. If you’re at the front of the queue when it comes to boarding, you’re far more likely to become one of the chosen few. Sometimes, though, the last few on will benefit from being stragglers, so it’s not an exact science. Most flights are overbooked to ensure they fly at capacity, so if economy is already full, you might just get lucky!
