The Rise of the Solo Female Traveler

They say experiences are much better investments than material things. I’m so happy that nowadays, people believe in this idea and in turn, have put travel on the top of their lists. Travel usually entails being with our family, friends or a special other. After all, going through adventures is fun with company. However, there is an upward trend happening at present that has launched quite a phenomenon among females. Nowadays, we see the rise of the solo female traveler.

According to the 2015 Visa Global Travel Intentions study, there has been an increase to 24% in 2015 from last year’s 15% when it comes to solo travel. More than just a sense of more independence and indulging in the ever needed “me time”, solo travelers get to have their pick of things to do and places to see. There is great appeal in no adjusting and compromising to anyone else’s preferences/personality/requests because the only person that you have to make sure is happy is you. Even activities that used to be enjoyed in groups such as volunteering, engaging in sports events, backpacking, etc, are now being enjoyed more by solo travelers. You have the world in your hands and only your choice matters.

As a female solo traveler, I can definitely attest to the exhilaration and excitement that flying solo provides.
