treating sinus issues

The stuffy feeling in your nose may not be the most painful, but it is quite uncomfortable. As soon as the cold weather approaches, your sinus hits you hard. It feels like you have been hit by a truck when your nasal passages are blocked.

Like every disease, you need to take extra care of yourself when you get a sinus infection. If your sinus infection isn’t improving, you must take a few steps to resolve the issue. In this article, we are talking about a sinus infection and home remedies to make it better.

Symptoms that Sinus Infection is About to Hit You!

Sometimes, we can avoid getting down by a viral infection if we notice its symptoms and act fast. However, if you ignore the signs, the infection will most likely worsen and make your stay miserable for longer. Here are some symptoms you shouldn’t miss:

  1. Tightness in Face

One of the early symptoms of sinus is tightening in the face. Your face starts to get stuffy and tight as soon as the sinus infection hits you. You feel hard to breathe when your face starts getting uncomfortable. Besides tightness in your face, you feel your jaw getting tense, and your teeth sometimes hurt.

  1. Sore and Itchy Throat

Our throat is the first to suffer as soon as the weather changes. When a sinus infection is about to hit you hard, you will experience a scratchy throat. Your throat starts to get dry and itchy; it will not get better, no matter how much water you have.

  1. Difficulty in Breathing

Sinus infection symptoms include difficulty in breathing, one of the major signs. Your nasal ways start to get filled with fluid causing infection. The blocked sacs can cause breathing difficulty, making it hard to sleep.

  1. Stuffy Nose

A stuffy nose is probably the most annoying symptom that people hate. Usually, one nose gets blocked, and one is open. Your nasal passageways start to get blocked and stuffy; hence, breathing becomes quite uncomfortable.

Tips to Remediate Sinus Infection

Sinus infection is hard to deal with, and you sometimes must take antibiotics. However, if you figure out the symptoms faster and use some home remedies, you will recover more quickly. Here are some remedies you can use:

  • Hot Bath and Steam

If you have sinuses and are prone to viral fever every time your weather changes, hot showers will be your savior. Make sure to run a hot bath and soak yourself in it for a few minutes. It will help in unclogging your nasal pathways and provide instant relief.

On the other hand, steam is also best to relieve the sinus and reduce your nasal blockage. You can take steam once or twice a day, depending on how bad your sinus infection is.

  • Elderberry

Elderberry for cold and flu works like magic; hence, most people in colder countries swear by it. You can find elderberries in most European countries, but you can’t eat them raw. You have to boil it or have it as jam or supplements.

One of the benefits of elderberry is reducing cold and cough symptoms. It has a lot of antioxidants that help in flushing out toxins and strengthening your immunity. You can also have its supplements easily available in pharmacies.

  • Keep Humidifier

Dry air is one of the main reasons why you have congestion and difficulty breathing. The atmosphere in colder months can get super dry, causing your nasal air to block. One of the simplest ways to add moisture to the air is through a humidifier.

Humidifiers are easily available everywhere, and you can get them super cheaply. It would be best to keep a humidifier on, especially at night, as it helps unclog your nasal pathway. On the other hand, it also helps improve air quality.

  • Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the famous ingredients in skincare as it promotes faster healing and helps rejuvenate the skin. However, it is even better when treating sinus and viral infections. Vitamin C has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that help you recover faster.

On the other hand, if you are dealing with a sore and inflamed throat, it will help with that as well. You can add over-the-counter vitamin C supplements to your diet to help prevent and treat sinus. It also helps in providing a boost of energy and healing infections faster.

Final Verdict

Sinus is a big issue that most people face, and it gets even worse as the colder months approach. However, dealing with it can be much easier if you notice the symptoms faster and do remedies to recover quicker.

Make sure to have vitamin C and elderberry supplements daily to avoid your sinus from flaring. If your nasal blockage gets worse, you can try Neti Pots for instant relief and regulate your breathing.
