5 Industries that Need More Women

Femininity has achieved significant success in earning women more career equality compared to the old times. Today, women are executing the same duties as men. However, to be honest, enough has not been done. Stereotyping has made women shun away from some fields, leaving them to be male-dominated. As a woman, you can change this by taking up a career in a field dominated by men. To help you in taking this step, here are some five industries you might consider entering:

Oil and Gas

You might find it encouraging to know that this field faces a shortage of the critical [required] skills. In short, employment opportunities are always there. In the past, long working hours, the hardy labor and remote working conditions discouraged women. However, today, the field accommodates women by providing on-site housing, flexible work schedules, parent-friendly settings and gender-inclusive work. Several oil and gas organizations are recruiting more women. For instance, Oilforce has all kinds of oil and gas jobs.
Auto

According to a recent study, it was found that women can do better jobs in handling vehicles than men. This saw many auto industries seeking to recruit women in the field, which suffers an occasional shortage of skilled labor. Therefore, any woman that takes up this industry will not only attract more into it but will also be termed special and a better worker.

Mechanical Engineering

Gone are the days when engineering was about the hardy labor of lifting heavy machine parts and tightening gigantic screws. Today, much of these are automated. Therefore, all a woman needs is the knowledge of assembling parts. The rest is done by machines controlled by computers. More women should join in to raise the current female force in this industry, which is only 13%.

Computer Science

Women take up only 25% in this field. This trend is expected to rise as girls are being urged to take up STEM subjects so they can infiltrate the technology industry. Already, the statistics are encouraging as more females are in college to earn engineering and computer science-based degrees.

Brick and Stone Masonry

The brick and stone masonry industry is the industry with the least female professionals in the United States. Honestly, it is next to impossible to find a woman laying foundations, fixing doors or setting up roofs at construction sites. On average, women make up 0.1% of this industry! Today, women have proven they can do whatever a man does. Therefore, this is the other field you should consider venturing. It can be laborious, but, it rewards heftily.

Evidently, the world is putting in too much effort to bring women aboard industries infiltrated by men. The ball is now in the females’ court; they only need to take the steps. With the right skills, these industries are ready to absorb them.
