Is it 5:00 yet?

With 3 short months of summer in Chicago, staying focused while the sun is shining is getting more difficult by the day!  I am trying REALLY hard to keep on task but sitting at a desk all day long in June is torture.  Here are a few ways to get it done on the job while maximizing the summer weather:

1. Start Your Day Earlier!  Newsflash: the sun is shining at 5:30am now in Chicago.  Wake up an hour earlier and get your fix while running or walking on the lake.  I have been rollerblading in the mornings and see bootcamps and yoga classes starting on the lake at 6am!

2. Outdoor meetings!  Cancel your conference call and instead, take a walk outside or to a coffee shop.  Sit outside on a bench and discuss the project.  No email distractions, only a needed break while still being productive.

3. Give an Hour, Take an Hour!  Leaving early at 4pm for your kickball league is cool if you can squeeze that hour in later at night or first thing in the AM.  Don’t pass up on fun activities because of a strict 8am-5pm rule.  As long as the work gets done, it’s OK to be selfish once or twice a week.

Summer 2012 is not going to pass us by.  Our work is done and it’s time to play!  On that note, I’m outta here 🙂
