The First Date Goodbye and the Oprah Hug

My roommate introduced me to this video and I think it’s about the best thing ever. The Oprah hug. As defined by Urban Dictionary, “Going in for a normal hug, but instead grabing hands and shaking them in the air.”

But seriously- I think it could be a great new solution to one of the worst dating issues- the first date goodbye.

The first date good goodbye could quite possibly be the most awkward event someone could ever experience. Do you hug? Do you shove your hands in your pockets? Do you dare lean in for a KISS?!? We all know I’m a fan of saluting.

While the appropriate reaction is best decided by gauging the date and acting based on how interested you are for a second, what if the other person was far more interested? Or far less interested… ugh… terrifying.

I can easily say that I’ve never ended a first date appropriately. Never. Its only the guys that understand my awkwardness, or maybe are ever more awkward than me that ever ask me out for a second date- And I believe it all comes down to that split second, end of date decision.

So I think from now on, I’ll stick with the Oprah hug. That will totally win me cool points right?

Anyways… What do you guys think? What’s the best way to end a first date?

Let’s talk.

Happy Thursday y’all!
