Christmas Cards: Still Popular And A Surprising Hit With Millennials

We all know that the cost of postage has gone up significantly over the years.  Add to that the ever-increasing demands on our time, and you’d think that the popularity of traditional Christmas Cards and Holiday Cards would be tiny compared to the past.  But that’s not the case at all.  In the U.S. alone, about two billion cards are sent out annually.  And perhaps even more surprising is how Millennials relate to greeting cards.  Yes, the generation who does life their own way is shying away from e-cards and towards the personal touch of the traditional card.

Traditional vs. E-Card

When I reflected on my own experience, I found something interesting.  It’s when I receive a physical card in the mail that I pause to reflect on the season, the message in the card, and most of all the relationship.  That’s not the case with e-cards. When I get those, especially from a business, it’s more like, “click, delete.”

Since I hadn’t sent a physical card for a while, I decided to take a look around and see what’s available.  There’s a ton of places you can get generic cards, of course.  And there’s a large number of sources for custom cards, which are the one’s I most appreciate receiving.  What’s possible today is amazing.  As an example of one of the best out there, take a look at Basic Invite’s holiday cards.

Custom Photo Christmas Cards

The most personal cards, of course, are the photo Christmas cards.  That’s the one with a picture of your family or sometimes your pet (with or without you!).  Those are the cards that end up on my fridge for at least a couple months after the holiday season.  For family that lives far away, it’s a great way to experience a little piece of their holiday celebration.

If you’re thinking this year might be a good time to try getting back to an old Christmas tradition, here are four reasons why I like Basic Invite:

Almost Unlimited Colors –

Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail. This is what we feel sets us apart from almost any other online stationery company and is what we feel is our biggest draw.

Custom Samples –

Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as feel the paper quality before they ever have to place their final order.

Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes –

Basic Invite is just as colorful with our envelopes as we are with our invitations. Customers can choose from over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes so that they can make their invitation stand out even before it is opened. All of our envelopes are peel and seal so the envelopes can be quickly and securely closed without licking a single one.

Address Capturing Service –

Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media to request their friends and family’s addresses which will be stored in the customer’s account and can then be selected during the design process. Basic Invite offers recipient address printing at no cost on all Christmas card orders.

Want some incentive to go traditional this year?  Right now Basic Invite is offering 30% off with coupon code: holi30!
