Time For a New Kitchen Faucet? Check These Tips

No matter what’s going on in the rest of life, things like your kitchen faucet break or just wear out.  If it’s time to replace it, you will likely want to choose a kitchen faucet that looks well, but you also need to think about functionality. Also, you may feel overwhelmed by the different styles, price ranges, and materials used to make these faucets. Regardless of this, you can still find something that fits your kitchen decor and taste without breaking the bank. As such, below are some of the things to consider when buying a new kitchen faucet.

Your sink

If you already have a sink, you should consider its features before buying a faucet. Because your sink might not be compatible with all faucets. Each sink will have different mounting holes and plumbing, which will affect the kind of faucet you choose. Check to see how many holes on the sink there are for mounting a faucet.

Perhaps you also want to change the sink, you can also check some of the best kitchen sinks. The position of the faucet is also a major consideration since they come in different sizes. If it is mounted on either side of the sink does the spout have a spray nozzle to reach the other side? Functionality is key, so ensure to check how your choice works with your already installed sink.

Finishing

The finishing of your faucet is also vital. A faucet with a finishing that matches the theme of your cabinet hardware is a great choice. A mismatch won’t look great, unless you also want to change the cabinet hardware. In addition, you want to choose an option that will last for a long time as some of the finishes tend to be tougher than others. Some finishes are hard to keep clean, others chip easily but some like chrome are great alternatives.

Pull-down sprayers

When picking out a faucet you also want to choose one with a sprayer. A faucet with a pull down sprayer is easy to use especially when you have a double sink. Also, pull-down sprayers are far much better than the conventional sprayers that are mounted on the side of the sink.

Water lines

Your faucet should also be compatible with the water lines. So before you head out to go buy a new faucet, make sure you check under your sink and assess the water lines. Some of the things you need to check include the shutoff valves and the size of the water supply lines.

The last thing you want is to have a well-decorated kitchen space with new faucets that don’t even work. If you think you might have a problem figuring out the plumbing system, then you can have a plumber check it for you before buying your faucet.

Price

The price is important, just as any other thing you will want to consider before buying the faucet. Don’t go over your budget for something that is not worth what you are paying for, but also don’t buy just because it is cheap. Cheap is expensive, remember? The best way to stay within a budget is to research before buying, such that you know what you want and have an idea of the pricing.
