Real Career Girls: There Are Heroes Everywhere

heroes

Last month, I wrote about heroes and how real career girls are heroes every day.  While the trials and challenges you and I have faced and overcome may have seemed nearly overwhelming at the time, we weren’t alone in our struggles.  Yet we push forward and move on.

So often, our struggles go unappreciated or even unnoticed.  Even now, there are those around you experiencing challenges of which you’re unaware.  And in many instances, they go about doing their daily routines not only well, they do so cheerfully.  But who knows how many pillows are dampened each night by tears of anguish and exhaustion.

While most of these stories are never told, a few are written in inspirational accounts and published.  Recently I found Lilac Dreams by Bonnie Hathcock.  Bonnie relates the story of an unenviable childhood and young adult life.  As she puts it, it’s her story of her journey “from the sewer drain to the boardroom,” and it’s a wonderfully inspiring addition to any library.  There are many such stories all around you and me every day.  All we need to is take notice.

In last month’s article, I also asked for those wishing to share their story or that of another, to do so.  Two who did are Sandy and Kathy, and we’ve invited them to write a guest post for Ms Career Girl readers.  Hopefully you’ll see those in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, keep an intuitive eye out for similar stories unfolding around you.  Reach out and share a little love.  And if it’s you, know that there’s someone close by who is more than willing to lend an ear, a  hug, or a helping hand.  Or maybe even all three.

Stories of perseverance and beating the odds are always inspiring. Here’s some links to more stories of inspirational real career girls:

I'm a serial entrepreneur, with a resume that makes me look like a Jane of all trades. Pretty sure we are all reluctant Messiahs, travelling through life planting seeds where ever we can. Hopefully, most of mine have been good ones! MA from Miami University (Ohio, not Florida), BA from Cal State.
