One of the first things that you need to consider when trying to keep your heating unit at its best is the protection that you have in place on your external condensation pipe. In colder climates, these pipes can freeze up and prohibit your unit from working properly. If you start to experience a problem like this, then you need to have the pipe wrapped in an insulated material. The more protection that you offer this pipe, the easier it will be to make sure that it does not prohibit the use of your unit.

The Boiler Thermostat

Another thing that you need to keep a close eye on when trying to make sure that your unit is running right is the thermostat setting. You want to make sure that you do not set the thermostat to high because this will put a lot of undue stress on your unit. The higher the temperature setting is, the harder your unit will have to work. Be sure to ask the professional company who maintains your unit about the right temperature that your unit needs to be set on without making it overwork.
