Small But Mighty: The Sofia Clutch

The Sofia shoulder clutch by Robert Matthew is beautifully crafted bag perfect for your essentials. The clutch is great for those days and nights when you want to pack only your bare necessities.

I carry around a tote bag everywhere I go. Whether it be work, dates, shopping, the theatre. Everywhere. Downsizing to a small clutch is always difficult for me, but the Sofia holds all the things I need perfectly. The small but mighty bag can be used as a clutch, wristlet, or shoulder bag.

The Basics

Robert Matthew’s Sofia is made of genuine Saffiano leather with a cute, blue and white pinstriped inner polyester lining. The hardware of the bag is 24K gold plated. The adjustable shoulder strap can drop down to six inches. There is a zippered compartment on the outside of the bag and a smaller zippered compartment on the inside of the bag. It can fit several important items that you want to easily be within reach when traveling, shopping, or having a night out. Being a wristlet, a strap allows you to wear it comfortably around your wrist while holding it, ensuring that your items are secure and close to you at all times, even in highly crowded venues.

What can you fit in it?

It can comfortably fit your cash, cards, and some make up, but don’t expect to fit a large purse/wallet inside it. This is truly just for you bare necessities.

Let’s talk about mobile phones. with everyone heavily relying on this technology, being able to fit your phone in a wristlet is a definite must! I like how the construction of the bag includes a soft lining and smooth hems on the inner  pockets. This makes sure that your phone isn’t scratched by pocket zippers and the like. An iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, 4, 3G and Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 all fit inside the clutch.

The Downside?

If you are, however, a person who relies on a phablet or tablet, this pouch would not be for you. The same goes for people who tend to carry more things in their purse – if you want to bring  your entire makeup arsenal to a night out, forget it.

Colors

The Sofia is also available from Robert Matthew in black diamond, brown jewel, and dark sapphire.

The Low-Down

Pros:

  • Durable
  • Well-constructed
  • Classic look

Cons:

  • Small size

Where can you get it?

Robert Matthew was created in 2012 by two lifelong friends, Robert and Matthew, in California. They design for the casual styles of San Francisco to the fashion forward influences of Los Angeles. Not only do they offer handbags, but they also offer scarves and jewelry.

The Robert Matthew Sofia 24K Gold Leather Shoulder Clutch is available at RobertMatthew.com for $168.00.
