6 Aspects to Look at When Finding Student Housing

there are a few ways to overcome the challenges listed below and make your college experience not only successful but fun as well.

Being a student means a ton of new experiences, whether you’ve lived in the area or are a newcomer. No matter where you’re going to school, these tips apply. But today, let’s look at Sydney, Australia, as an example.

When you’re looking for great student accommodation options close to Broadway in Sydney, there are specific aspects you should be watching for. While a view of the Sydney Tower or the Opera House might be what you want, it’s definitely not what you need when it comes to student housing. Here are aspects you need to check out.

Area

The total area of the accommodation you’re planning to live in is one of the most crucial aspects. You don’t want to be in a room that’s the size of a closet and has virtually no space to move about in.

An ideal accommodation should have enough space for your bed, a study table, a closet, and a seating arrangement. The area (per sq. m.) can differ depending on the bed size and other aspects. You should look at the accommodation in person to determine whether there’s enough area before signing a lease for it.

Affordability

As a student, keeping track of your budget is essential, especially when it comes to housing. If you’re spending too much on your rent, it can leave you without the money to spend on other necessities.

Set a budget from the beginning so you don’t stray too far from it later. Ideally, you should sign a lease for accommodation that doesn’t include fluctuating rent. The rent should be locked for at least a year, after which you should be open for renegotiation with the landlord.

Amenities Offered

There are great student accommodation options in Sydney, where various amenities are offered. Amenities you should be looking for include:

  • Good WIFI services
  • Laundry services
  • On-site parking
  • Gym or swimming pool
  • Coffee machine.

You can also find additional amenities, including social spaces and much more. Ask your landlord about it beforehand to have a challenging idea about what you will get when you start living there.

Security

Any student accommodation you are looking at should have thorough security. You don’t want to be living in a shady area where you’re constantly scared about break-ins. It can not only ruin your college experience but put a significant mental burden on you too.

Along with CCTV, there should be an entryway lock that only enables the residents and their guests to enter the premises. You should also inquire about what happens when there is a potential security breach.

Sharing vs. Single Accommodation

If you’re unable to find a single accommodation space within your budget, it might be worthwhile to think about sharing your space with someone else. It can not only make your experience more budget-friendly but ensure you have a partner in crime during your college years.

You might be able to find a student accommodation that already has several other interested individuals. You can talk with them about the possibility of sharing a space. Many areas that offer student housing also have shared apartments, which means you don’t have to go through the hassle of finding a roommate.

Neighbourhood

When you’re looking for student accommodation options, you have to look at the neighbourhood too. The type of people that live in the area can determine the crowd you will be hanging out with for the next few years.

You should also ensure that the neighbourhood has everything you need, whether a grocery store or a park nearby. Many areas close to Broadway, which offer exclusive student accommodation, also arrange for student events where you can have fun.

When you look at these aspects to help you determine your student housing situation, the process will be quicker and simpler for you.
