Smartphone Apps that Save Time: Google Reader

Do you read a lot of blogs?  I know I do.  There are currently over 100 blogs that I follow on various subjects including technology, entrepreneurship, apps, gadgets, etc.  Can you imagine if I had to check each of these sites every day or every week?

Instead of checking those websites manually, I have them go to an RSS Reader.  An RSS Reader is a tool that allows you to get new updates from all of those websites in one location.  I use Google Reader as my RSS Reader.  It is a web-based tool that you get for free as part of your Gmail account.

During your wait times or while commuting, checking your Google Reader is a great way to stay on top of news, trends in your industry or even your favorite fashion blogs.  On your smartphone, you can head to the Google Reader’s mobile site: m.google.com/reader

Or, there’s an app for that…

If you have an Android phone, you can install the Google Reader app. For iPhone, I use Newsify. There are a tons of variations so check them out and see what works best for you.

Do you use RSS readers?  What are some of your favorite blogs to watch?  Please share with us in the comments.
